Wednesday 10 April 2024 New Printer Hints

Wednesday, April 10, 2024

As I am in charge of our blog and I have been pondering subjects to write about.  Coincidentally today it was drawn to my attention by a customer that buying new printers can be fraught.

After receiving a telephone call today asking for advice I thought a little info maybe a helpful thing…

…This customer had found a printer that took remanufactured inks.  That is if he was to obtain the best value printing with this machine.  I have an issue with these.  They run a cartridge for the black and one for the colour.  The colour ink has 3 compartments inside.  The trouble I see here is when one of the colours runs out, that cartridge is then seen as empty by the printer.  Even if the other two colours have ink inside still.

This customer wanted a printer for home use for only a small amount of printing. I recommended a cheaper Epson that takes our 604xl inks.  The machine I found was for sale at John Lewis so it came with their 2 year guarantee.  This machine had 34 good reviews on their site and will be available at other retailers too.

If this printer seems to fit the bill for you then it does seem a good price especially considering the machines ability to take First Call Inks compatible cartridges.

If you are in the market for more of a workhorse then Epson do other machines alongwith Brother and Canon.  Both making printers that take 4, 5 or 6 ink cartridges too.  To be able to change each colour individually - as and when each runs out just seems to be the best option to me.  They also have the added bonus of taking our compatible ink cartridges which are made for specially for us.  The 2 cartridge machines can only take a remanufactured cartridge.  This is an original ink that has simply been refilled with a lot more ink.  If you already have one of these printers then a ‘reman’ is the way to go for you to get the best value printing, I am just saying that there are cheaper ways to print here.

As always though, if anyone is looking for advice then please feel free to get in touch.  Our telephone number is 01323 430060 or email sales@firstcallinks.co.uk.
